Privacy Policy

Revision date: 21 September 2026 | Version: 2026-09-21.3

1. Who handles your information

This Policy applies to personal information handled through Nikah Connect TT in Trinidad and Tobago. For privacy questions or requests, email nikahconnecttt@gmail.com.

This Policy explains what information we use, why we use it, who may receive it and the choices available to you. It does not transfer our data-protection responsibilities to users.

2. Information we collect

Depending on your use of the app, we collect:

  • Account and profile details: legal and display names, email, phone number, date of birth, gender, location, marital information, preferences, religious values, photographs and information you choose to provide.
  • Review information: identity-verification uploads, references and their relationship/contact details, and administrator review decisions.
  • Payment records: payment method, amount, transaction reference, date, submitted evidence and approval or rejection history. Payment providers handle the financial information supplied directly to them.
  • Communications and safety records: messages, support requests, reports, blocks, privacy choices and relevant enforcement decisions.
  • Agreement information: from the introduction of versioned registration acceptance, an explicit confirmation at the app-controlled registration step records your authenticated account identifier, a server-generated record creation time, the action/source and confirmation statement, and the titles, exact versions and accepted/acknowledged status of the linked documents presented. Each document is associated with its preserved historical text and a content fingerprint. The Privacy Policy is acknowledged, not treated as blanket consent to optional or sensitive processing, marketing or wali sharing. Earlier users and applicants may have only legacy confirmations and no versioned acceptance record. We do not invent or backdate acceptance or treat an old confirmation as agreement to later terms.
  • Operational records generated by the service, limited to the technical/security information identified in section 6.

Religious beliefs and some other profile information can be sensitive. We process sensitive information only as permitted by applicable law, with informed consent where required. Do not upload unnecessary identity, financial, health or third-party information into public profile fields or ordinary messages.

3. Why we use it

We use information to create and administer accounts; review eligibility, identity and payments; provide profile discovery and matching features; enable permitted communication and sharing; respond to support and safety reports; investigate misuse; maintain security; document agreements and payment decisions; and meet lawful accounting, dispute and regulatory obligations.

We use reasonable measures intended to limit collection and access to what is reasonably needed for those purposes. Personal information collected for these purposes is not authorised by this Policy for sale to advertisers. Acknowledging this Policy is not consent to unrelated advertising or every future use of your data. If a new use requires notice or consent, we will provide or obtain it first.

4. What other users and administrators can see

Your profile information may be displayed through the app according to its features and your available settings. Member-facing profile screens are intended to keep legal names, identity-verification uploads, reference details and payment evidence separate from information shared with other members. Profile-photo and wali-sharing settings are intended to limit what those screens display; they do not guarantee that information or file links cannot be accessed, copied or disclosed by other means.

Authorised administrators may access private information where needed for registration, payment review, support, safety, enforcement or lawful obligations. Messages are intended for the conversation participants; relevant messages may be reviewed to investigate a report, safety concern or lawful request. Administrators should limit such review to the purpose involved.

Privacy controls cannot retrieve copies another person has already made or guarantee that a recipient will respect confidentiality. Users are responsible for respecting other people's privacy and for their own sharing choices; we remain responsible for safeguards within our control.

5. Other people's information

Before providing a reference's or wali's details, obtain their permission and explain the intended use and any permitted contact or sharing. They may contact us directly about their information. Do not provide a child's details for matchmaking.

Reports and private documents are intended for relevant review and lawful service purposes, not public warnings about users. Disclosures must have a lawful basis and be limited to what is necessary.

6. Service providers, processing locations and safeguards

We may use third-party providers for hosting, storage, payment processing, communications, security, technical support and other necessary service functions. These providers may process information on our behalf and may operate inside or outside Trinidad and Tobago. Information may be disclosed where reasonably necessary for the stated service functions, safety matters, lawful requests, dispute resolution or protection of legal rights, subject to applicable law.

We use reasonable measures intended to limit unnecessary access and protect information. However, we do not promise absolute privacy, confidentiality, anonymity, security, uninterrupted availability, prevention of every unauthorised access or disclosure, or immediate or permanent deletion of every copy. Privacy settings are intended to limit access but cannot control screenshots, copying, saving, misuse or disclosure by recipients or technical providers.

A provider may also have its own privacy terms for services you use directly. Overseas processing is not unrestricted permission to disclose your information; applicable legal safeguards remain our responsibility.

We use essential session/storage information to provide login and maintain service settings. Non-essential processing requires the notice and choices applicable law requires. We do not treat acceptance of these policies as permission to disclose private profile content, identity documents, messages or religious information to advertising services. Browser settings can limit some cookies or local storage, but disabling essential storage can affect login or app functions.

7. Retention and deletion

Our retention standard is to keep identifiable information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purpose or a lawful obligation. Different information requires different retention periods. Retention depends on the information, the purpose and applicable law; no particular automatic expiry period is promised.

Account deletion is intended to remove an account from normal member use and remove or anonymise information no longer needed, subject to lawful retention needs. Clearing a file link does not itself delete the uploaded file. Retained records may include email, dates, birth date, gender, location, payment records and safety records where applicable. Retained information is not intended as a member profile. A later registration does not automatically restore deleted photographs, messages or verification files.

The following purpose-based criteria guide retention decisions:

  • Profiles, photographs and ordinary messages: for the active service relationship and its requested functions; following deletion, remove or anonymise information no longer needed, subject to the limited exceptions below. Messages already received by another person may remain in that person's conversation history where necessary for that function or a lawful report; deletion does not retrieve their independent copies.
  • Identity images and reference details: only while needed for the relevant verification, a related review/challenge or an identified lawful safety purpose. A limited review result may be kept where keeping the original document is no longer necessary.
  • Payment decisions and evidence: for applicable accounting/record-keeping requirements and the resolution of payment queries or disputes; retain only the evidence necessary for those purposes.
  • Safety reports and enforcement records: while needed for the specific risk, investigation, appeal, lawful restriction or legal obligation concerned; continued retention should be assessed against that need.
  • Policy-acceptance evidence and deleted-account identifiers: while needed to establish the applicable agreement, manage a genuine dispute or meet a lawful obligation. Versioned acceptance records contain the account identifier rather than a copied name or email, and remain available to authorised administrators for these purposes after account deletion; they do not transfer to a new account merely because it uses the same email. They are read-only through the app, and no IP address or device-tracking information is added to these records. These records do not justify keeping the entire deleted account indefinitely.
  • Backups: residual copies may remain subject to the provider's backup arrangements and applicable law. A backup is not a reason to keep deleted information in ordinary active use.

Where a lawful investigation or dispute requires longer retention, use should be restricted to that purpose. Information must be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed. Account deletion is not a guarantee that all storage objects or backup copies have immediately disappeared. Backups must not be used to reactivate a deleted profile.

8. Your requests and choices

Use the available profile, privacy, blocking and account-deletion settings. You may also ask what personal information we hold and how it is used or shared, request access or correction, raise a privacy complaint, or request deletion or withdrawal of consent where applicable. Email nikahconnecttt@gmail.com. We may reasonably verify your identity without requesting unnecessary documents.

Some information is necessary to provide the service; withdrawing it may prevent continued use. Some deletion or access requests may be limited by lawful retention needs or other people's rights. We will explain applicable limits and respond within the time required by law or otherwise within a reasonable period.

9. Security, children and updates

We use reasonable measures intended to protect information, taking its sensitivity into account. No online system is completely secure, and these measures cannot prevent every incident. Where applicable, we may assess suspected incidents and take reasonable containment or remedial action. We remain responsible for notifications and other action legally required of us. A security disclaimer does not remove our legal duties.

The service is for adults aged 18 and over. Report suspected underage use to nikahconnecttt@gmail.com; the Child Safety Standards explain our response. Material privacy changes will be identified by version/date and communicated appropriately.

Nikah Connect TT does not guarantee marriage, a match, a reply or any other relationship outcome. Safety and uninterrupted availability are not guaranteed. Users are responsible for their conduct and decisions; our non-excludable legal responsibilities remain.
